What is 'The Art of Cricket' and what is it aiming to do?

''The Art of Cricket' is a three dimesional cricket simulation video game designed for modern computers. It plans to utilize the latest technology available, aiming to make gameplay the number one priority, though the graphic and audio features will be very good too. The aim is to design a video game that is the best 'underground' playable cricket simulation released to date, attracting a cult following within the cricket video games community, like the Linux operating system is to the Microsoft Windows one. Already it is gaining considerable support and interest from the cricket video games community.

 

Who are the people involved in the development team for 'The Art of Cricket'?

legend_master is the project manager, head developer and graphic artist and is the man responsible for making 'The Art of Cricket' come to life. He is being assisted by a selection of members from the Planetcricket.net Forums, noteably jk16_4, Hariz, Skateboarder, Holmie and Whitehornmatt and many others without charge. As development progresses, more members are expected to show a wish to help.  

 

Will the cricket video games community have to pay to play 'The Art of Cricket' and how will the video game be distributed?

At this moment in time, the decision has not been made whether or not the cricket video games community will have to pay to play 'The Art of Cricket'. If the development team wish for the cricket games community to play to play 'The Art of Cricket', then it will be an extremely small amount of money which will enable the cost of materials used in development to be met.

The remaining amount of money will be invested into the future development of the video game, in the form of future editions and patches. At this moment in time the video game will not be commercially distributed, so the video game will be available for download on the internet, but it will be an extremely large file sze. Members of the cricket video games community who use a dial-up connection of means of exploring the internet may wish to pay an extremely small amount of money to be sent a DVD.

 

When will 'The Art of Cricket' be released to the cricket video games community?

At this moment in time there is no exact date for when 'The Art of Cricket' will be released to the cricket video games community, but the development team would hope for the video game to be released before the end of the year 2009, however this is not a promised release time.  

 

What will the system requirements be for 'The Art of Cricket' and what other platforms is the video game going to be released for?

The development team are not certain about what the system requirements will be for 'The Art of Cricket' at this moment in time, but the video game is being optimized to function on average systems used since 2009. Members of the cricket video games community must be warned though that laptop computers may not be able to allow the video game to function properly. The video game will not be released for any other platform than PC computer, as the development team does not have the resources required to design the video game on other platforms.  

 

Why should the cricket video games community be interested in 'The Art of Cricket' when they can just purchase and play the latest cricket video game released by commercial companies?

The reason why the cricket video games community should be interested in 'The Art of Cricket' when they can just purchase and play the latest cricket video game released by commercial companies is that video games that have been released by commercial companies are likely to have amazing graphic features, but may lack gameplay. The cricket video games community is missing a video game that caters for all their desires and 'The Art of Cricket' aims to be the video game that finally does that. 'The Art of Cricket' is created by cricket video games fans, for cricket video games fans. It will offer the most realistic physics to date and almost everything will be editable. It will also be the most in-depth and true to the rules cricket sim ever made. TAOC plans to do what the other commercial games have consistently failed to achieve.

About TAOC

The Art Of cricket PC game is being developed by a very small team of dedicated cricket enthusiasts. The game has been in development since 2005 and has been through several iterations and game engines. 2011 has seen something of a rebirth with the alpha 0.1 just released in March.
